Dr. Jonathan Akle was born and raised in Edmonton and attended the University of Alberta for his undergraduate studies in microbiology and physical sciences. He has been practicing in the Edmonton area after graduating from Nova Southeastern University on the Dean’s Honours List in 2016. During his time at Nova, he spent 6 months at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami working alongside premier ophthalmologists in various departments including retina, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology and glaucoma, which allowed him to develop an interest in ocular disease and research. He founded his own practice in Sherwood Park, AB in 2018 with a special focus on ocular surface disease treatment and management. Dr. Akle has been on Council since 2020 and is looking forward to continuing to serve our members and continuing the push forward for optometry in Alberta.
